Production Process

Natural Brown sugar is produced through a process similar to white sugar, but with one key difference: the presence of molasses. The production begins with sugarcane or sugar beet. The juice is extracted by crushing the sugarcane, and then boiled to form a thick syrup. This process, removes impurities. For brown sugar, the syrup is not further refined to remove all the molasses content. Instead, a portion of the molasses is left intact, giving brown sugar its characteristic colour and flavour. The syrup is then cooled and crystallized to form brown sugar crystals.

Benefits

Brown sugar offers several benefits compared to white sugar. Firstly, it contains molasses, which adds a rich flavour profile, with hints of caramel and toffee. This makes it a popular choice for baking and adding depth to various dishes. Additionally, brown sugar retains some of the natural minerals present in sugarcane or sugar beet, such as calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium, which are otherwise removed during the refining process in white sugar.
