Plug Valve

A plug valve is a quarter-turn valve that uses a rotating plug with a hole to control fluid flow. 1 When the hole aligns with the flow path, the valve is open. A 90-degree turn of the plug blocks the flow, closing the valve.

Plug valves are commonly used in various industries due to their durability, reliability, and ease of operation. Some common types include lubricated, non-lubricated, multi-port, and eccentric plug valves.

Applications range from oil and gas pipelines to chemical processing plants, handling a wide variety of fluids including corrosive and abrasive substances. 5

Sleeved Type

A plug valve sleeved type is a variation of the traditional plug valve, featuring a plug that is surrounded by a flexible sleeve, typically made of elastomeric material like rubber or PTFE. The sleeve provides a tight seal between the valve body and the plug, ensuring that the valve can handle a wide range of fluids, including corrosive, abrasive, or viscous substances.

This design eliminates the need for traditional seals or packing, reducing the risk of leakage and wear, making it ideal for applications in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food processing, where durability and leak-tight performance are essential.
